Step 1: Add Bluwat Compound Decoloring Agent

  • Begin by adding the compound decoloring agent (such as Bluwat BWD-01) directly into the paint wastewater.
  • Stir the solution for about 3–5 minutes to ensure thorough mixing.
  • This step helps to break down and remove colorants, binders, and suspended solids present in the paint effluent.

Step 2: Adjust pH to Neutral (pH 7–8)

  • Use sodium hydroxide (NaOH) or diluted hydrochloric acid (HCl) to adjust the pH of the wastewater.
  • Slowly add the pH-adjusting agent while stirring and monitor with a pH meter or pH paper.
  • A neutral pH helps to optimize the performance of coagulants and flocculants in the following step.

Step 3: Add Polyacrylamide Flocculant

  • After the pH is adjusted, add a small amount of polyacrylamide (PAM) solution, either cationic or anionic, depending on the wastewater characteristics.
  • Stir gently for another 2–3 minutes.
  • You will observe large flocs forming as particles bind together and settle quickly.
  • This step is critical for solid-liquid separation and improves sludge dewatering efficiency.
