Blufloc polyacrylamide (PAM; Russian: полиакриламид, ПАА) is a water-soluble polymer supplied in anionic, cationic and nonionic grades. It is engineered to improve flocculation, solid-liquid separation, clarification, sludge dewatering and water recovery across demanding operations in Russia and CIS markets.
Suspended solids behave differently from one process to another. Mineral particles in mine water, biological sludge at a municipal treatment plant, paper fibers in white water and fine solids in industrial effluent do not respond to the same polymer chemistry. Blufloc addresses this variation through a broad polyacrylamide portfolio with adjustable ionic character, molecular weight and charge degree.
In water, the selected polymer supports particle destabilization, inter-particle bridging and floc growth. Larger and stronger flocs can then be separated more efficiently by sedimentation, dissolved air flotation, thickening, filtration or mechanical dewatering. The practical objective is not simply to use PAM, but to select the grade that delivers the best treated-water quality and sludge behavior at an economical dose.
Grade selection can be adapted to high-solids mineral streams, variable industrial wastewater, long transport routes and winter storage requirements. According to the TDS, unopened product should be stored at 0-35°C, protected from moisture and direct sunlight. Heated or temperature-controlled storage may therefore be required during severe winter conditions.
Anionic polyacrylamide is commonly evaluated for raw-water clarification, mine water, tailings, coal washing, mineral processing, industrial wastewater and water-recovery circuits.
Cationic polyacrylamide is commonly evaluated for municipal sewage sludge, biological sludge, paper-mill sludge and industrial sludge thickening or dewatering.
