BLUFLOC ANIONIC POLYACRYLAMIDE

Short description

Blufloc APAM can be evaluated for settling and consolidation of sugar mill mud in a compatible treatment or recovery process. The APAM family covers an anionic degree of 5–100%; this is a family range, not the specification of one grade or a recommended charge for every mill.

20–100 mesh
89% minimum solids
25 kg kraft paper bag

Product overview

Sugar mill mud can contain precipitated clarification solids, fine plant matter and liquid carrying dissolved sugar. The desired polymer response depends on where the mud is treated and whether any filtrate returns to the food production circuit. That return path determines which product-use conditions must be confirmed.

Anionic polyacrylamide assists aggregation of compatible mud particles. Selection should balance settling, underflow consistency and subsequent filtration. Rapid settling alone is insufficient if the resulting mud is difficult to pump, filters poorly or allows excess fine solids into the overflow.

Product benefits

Settling trials

Support settling trials on the actual sugar mill mud stream.

Charge comparison

Allow anionic charge to be compared with mud chemistry and pretreatment.

Underflow and overflow assessment

Evaluate underflow handling together with overflow quality.

Filtration evaluation

Connect polymer screening with the downstream mud filtration step.

Molecular weight and charge ranges describe the product family. Confirm the selected grade and current batch specification with Bluwat. The pH of a 1% product solution is a test parameter, not the required plant operating pH.

Application process

Map the mud, overflow and filtrate destinations before selecting the product. Confirm the grade's permitted use if any treated liquid returns to sugar production. Prepare APAM separately and test its addition to a well-mixed mud feed. Compare settling at the available residence time, then check filtration or dewatering on representative conditioned mud.

Grade and dosage selection

The broad 5–100% anionic degree range allows screening of different charge levels; it does not imply that a highly anionic grade is automatically more effective. Mineral content, upstream lime or coagulant chemistry, temperature and liquid composition can change the optimum. Keep the actual grade specification and dosing basis documented when moving from bench tests to mill trials.

Performance evaluation

Record settling curves, overflow turbidity, mud bed development, underflow solids and filter performance. Where sugar recovery is relevant, use a measured mass balance rather than inferring recovery from a clear overflow. Compare conditions using the same mud feed and sampling interval.

Solution preparation

Prepare a 0.1–0.5% solution by mass using clean water. Add powder gradually to moving water to avoid lumps. Allow around one hour for dissolution, adjusting for grade, water quality and temperature. The TDS gives 200–400 rpm as a mixing reference; adapt mixing to the actual tank and impeller. Avoid unnecessary high shear after dissolution. A 0.1% solution contains 1 kg of product per 1,000 kg of final solution. Select the treatment dose separately through controlled trials.

Packaging storage and handling

Featured packaging is a 25 kg kraft paper bag with an inner plastic liner. Store the dry product sealed at 0–35 °C, protected from moisture and direct sunlight. The stated shelf life is two years under specified storage conditions. Reseal opened packaging and follow the current SDS for handling and spill cleanup.

Frequently asked questions

Is 5–100% anionic degree a dosing recommendation?

No. It describes the APAM family's charge range. Choose a specific grade from comparative testing.

Does sugar mud treatment always occur outside the food circuit?

No. Clarified liquid or filtrate may return to production. Confirm the flow path before deciding product-use requirements.

Should the fastest-settling grade always be chosen?

No. Include overflow clarity, mud pumpability and filtration results in the selection.

Can the same grade be used for a separate wastewater lagoon?

That is a different application. Screen the lagoon solids separately and identify whether any water returns to production.

About Bluwat Chemicals

Bluwat Chemicals is a China-based manufacturer and exporter of water treatment chemicals and functional polymers. Our business began in 2000, the company was formally established in 2002, and our Yixing factory began production in 2004. Our portfolio includes Blufloc PAM powder and emulsions, BWD-01 Water Decoloring Agent, PAC, PolyDADMAC, Polyamine and ACH. We help customers compare suitable products through wastewater characterization and application testing.

ISO 9001 concerns manufacturer quality management. Confirm grade-specific suitability for any direct food process or food and feed recovery use.
