Spray-dried white PAC developed to supply cationic charge and support fines, filler and sizing-component retention in compatible wet-end programs.
In paper sizing and retention, the practical objective is to retain fines, fillers and selected sizing components without damaging sheet color or machine stability. PAC-01 is used as a coagulant, not as a complete treatment system.
Its role is to supply cationic charge and support aggregation or fixation within a properly designed wet-end program. The grade is positioned for drinking-water and color-sensitive process-water applications, and its spray-dried form dissolves rapidly when the solution is prepared correctly.
The relevant feed is typically papermaking stock or white-water systems requiring retention support. The main difficulty is that negatively charged fibers and fines can repel one another, while high shear and interfering substances reduce retention.
As a result, untreated water may show unstable turbidity, weak settling, short filter runs or poor solid-liquid separation. A useful product page must distinguish the removable suspended or colloidal fraction from dissolved contaminants that require other processes.

Operators should follow first-pass retention, ash retention, drainage, formation, deposit tendency and sheet appearance. These indicators show whether the treatment target is being achieved and whether the dose is creating unnecessary sludge or downstream carryover.
PAC is a pre-hydrolyzed inorganic polymeric coagulant. After dispersion, its cationic aluminium species adsorb on negatively charged particles and reduce the electrical barrier that keeps them apart.
As hydrolysis continues, aluminium hydroxide floc provides a sweep-coagulation surface that captures fine particles. Separation performance therefore depends on product dose, pH, alkalinity, mixing sequence, flocculation time and the selected settling, DAF or filtration equipment.
Characterize the papermaking stock or white-water systems requiring retention support, including pH, turbidity or TSS and the contaminants that may remain dissolved.
Prepare the solid PAC as a 2–20% solution with clean water. Allow complete dispersion and keep the solution system clean.
Run a jar test around the TDS reference range of about 1–15 g/MT and reproduce the intended process position: at the stock-preparation or wet-end point selected through machine trials and compatibility testing.

PAC-01 and PAC-02 are the starting grades for drinking-water and cleaner process-water duties. PAC-01 is white with 45–55% basicity, while PAC-02 is yellow with 45–85% basicity. PAC-031 is the industrial grade with 29% minimum Al2O3, 50–90% basicity and a higher allowable insoluble fraction. Grade selection should reflect treated-water requirements, feed variability and total treatment cost rather than color alone.
