Cuttings that disintegrate during circulation create additional fine solids that are harder to remove at the surface. An encapsulating polymer is selected to interact with suitable cuttings surfaces and help reduce their dispersion during transport. This function must be assessed separately from simply making the mud thicker.
Bluwat offers anionic polymer options for formulation trials. The TDS family range is a starting point for comparison, rather than evidence that all grades provide the same coating behavior. Confirm a suitable drilling-grade chemistry and compare cuttings preservation in the intended mud before routine use.
A broad molecular-weight family supports comparison of cuttings interaction, solution handling and rheological impact.
Powder supply allows the preparation concentration and addition method to be adapted to the mixing arrangement.
Laboratory screening can connect polymer choice to recovered cuttings quality and downstream separation requirements.

Molecular weight and anionic degree are family ranges, not a single grade specification. Confirm the selected grade and agreed supply criteria before ordering. ISO 9001 refers to the manufacturer’s quality management system, not a guarantee of application performance.
Evaluate cuttings size, shale or clay content, exposure time, fluid salinity and the expected mechanical history. Polymer demand may increase when fresh reactive surface area rises. A clean-water viscosity measurement alone does not show how much polymer remains available after contact with drilled solids.
Review the balance between preserving larger cuttings and controlling the fine-solids fraction. Compare shaker screen behavior, visible agglomeration and circulation properties. Avoid choosing a grade only because it produces the largest flocs in a beaker, since the drilling fluid must remain compatible with the whole solids-control train.
Use representative cuttings and prepare a base-fluid control with the same salinity and inhibitor package as the proposed mud.
Screen selected APAM grades at several additions, using consistent cuttings mass, contact time and agitation.
Measure recovered cuttings mass and observe dispersion, surface condition and screen separation after the test.
Check aged fluid rheology and polymer consumption trends before setting replenishment criteria for a site trial.
Use clean, compatible make-up water and add the powder gradually into an established mixing flow. Avoid dumping powder in one location, which can create lumps with dry cores. The TDS gives 0.1–0.5% as general solution-preparation guidance. If specified on an as-supplied powder mass basis, this corresponds to 1–5 kg of powder per 1,000 kg of final solution; agree the concentration basis for the project.
Allow approximately one hour of agitation as a starting reference, then confirm complete hydration. Water quality, temperature, grade and equipment affect the required time. The TDS’s 200–400 rpm reference is equipment dependent and should not be scaled to a different tank solely by rpm. Avoid severe shear after hydration. Determine the final treatment dosage through the application tests described above.
The featured packaging is a 25 kg kraft paper bag with an inner plastic liner. The TDS also lists 25 kg kraft paper or PE bags and 750 kg net big bags. Store powder dry, protected from direct sunlight and at 0–35°C. Keep opened packaging tightly closed. Consult the current SDS for handling, spill control and personal protection.
Bluwat Chemicals is a China-based manufacturer and exporter of water treatment chemicals and functional polymers. Our business began in 2000, Bluwat was formally established in 2002, and our Yixing factory began production in 2004. We operate three production bases, including Yixing and Huaibei, and have supplied a cumulative 800,000 tonnes of products to customers in around 100 countries and regions. Our portfolio includes BWD-01 Water Decoloring Agent, PAM powder and emulsions, PolyDADMAC, Polyamine, PAC, Ferric Sulphate and ACH.
Our production and export background supports technical communication and supply planning for overseas industrial buyers.
We help customers compare wastewater or process conditions, treatment objectives and suitable chemical combinations before choosing a product.
Our coagulants, flocculants and specialty chemicals support projects in oil and gas, mining, textiles, pulp and paper, and municipal water treatment.
Our ISO 9001 quality management system and agreed grade specifications provide a basis for purchasing discussions. Application performance is verified through the relevant trials.
No. Encapsulation aims to limit cuttings dispersion through polymer interaction with their surfaces. Flocculation brings suspended particles together for separation. A polymer can influence both, but the desired process outcome differs.
No. Higher molecular weight may also increase viscosity or sensitivity to handling. Select the grade using cuttings tests and the operating limits of the complete mud.
Keep the bags dry, protected from direct sunlight and within the recommended 0–35°C storage range. The inner plastic liner does not replace suitable covered storage.
