Blufloc CPAM is a cationic powder polymer for conditioning dairy effluent sludge before mechanical dewatering. Its specified pH is 4–6 in a 1% aqueous solution. The actual sludge pH and selected grade must be determined from the dairy treatment process and machine trials.
Dairy wastewater systems can produce fat- and protein-rich flotation sludge, biological sludge or a mixture of both. Cleaning-in-place operations may influence the wastewater entering treatment, while production changes affect the quantity and composition of captured solids. These differences should be represented in the polymer trial.
CPAM can support floc formation and water release in compatible dairy sludge. Performance depends on charge, molecular weight, mixing and the condition of the solids. Selecting the product by its 1% solution pH alone would overlook the factors that determine drainage and solids retention.
Condition compatible dairy sludge for mechanical dewatering evaluation.
Compare grades for flotation sludge, biological sludge and normal blends.
Support assessment of drainage alongside filtrate clarity.
Provide a defined quality-control pH specification for the product solution.

Molecular weight and charge ranges describe the product family. Confirm the selected grade and current batch specification with Bluwat. The pH of a 1% product solution is a test parameter, not the required plant operating pH.
Sample the sludge from the actual feed tank and document any blending. Prepare CPAM solution separately using consistent make-up water. Compare suitable grades and doses, then test the selected condition on the operating press or centrifuge. Include a representative production cycle so that a favorable result is not based only on an unusually easy sludge sample.
Check sludge solids, pH, fat content and residual coagulants. If feed conditions change after cleaning events, address equalization and blending as well as polymer selection. The pH 4–6 specification refers to a 1% polymer solution and does not require acidification of dairy sludge. Evaluate sludge pH changes only where the process and trials justify them.
Record cake dry solids, liquid solids carryover, throughput and polymer use per dry tonne. Note screen or cloth cleaning demand and any greasy cake handling problems. Compare at similar sludge temperature and solids loading to avoid attributing a feed change to a better polymer.
Prepare a 0.1–0.5% solution by mass using clean water. Add powder gradually to moving water to avoid lumps. Allow around one hour for dissolution, adjusting for grade, water quality and temperature. The TDS gives 200–400 rpm as a mixing reference; adapt mixing to the actual tank and impeller. Avoid unnecessary high shear after dissolution. A 0.1% solution contains 1 kg of product per 1,000 kg of final solution. Select the treatment dose separately through controlled trials.
Featured packaging is a 25 kg kraft paper bag with an inner plastic liner. Store the dry product sealed at 0–35 °C, protected from moisture and direct sunlight. The stated shelf life is two years under specified storage conditions. Reseal opened packaging and follow the current SDS for handling and spill cleanup.
No. That number describes the 1% product solution. Choose sludge pH from process requirements and testing.
It may, but the streams can differ substantially. Evaluate the actual individual streams or operating blend.
Sludge conditioning targets solids separation. Dissolved lactose and other soluble organics require appropriate wastewater treatment.
This page concerns wastewater sludge. It does not establish suitability for direct dairy food processing.
